WASTE MANAGEMENT
Waste management is the compilation, transportation, and recycling of garbage, sewage, and other waste products. It is the exercise or practice that is done for proper waste disposal by human activities. Waste management helps people in taking care of their wastes properly and wisely. This is appropriate in order for us to have a healthy living society. Through the past years, it has been noticed that the sanitation in certain places are not really that good. This is one consequence whenever we do improper waste management. According to the website dictionary, waste management is defined as the processes involved in dealing with the waste of humans and organisms, including minimisation, handling, processing, storage, recycling, transport, and final disposal.

REPUBLIC ACT NO. 9003
Ecological Solid Waste Management act of 2000 is an act providing for an ecological waste management program. This was implemented to protect the public health and the environment. Littering or throwing of trashes in public places, the open burning of solid wastes, causing the collection of non-segregated or unsorted wastes are examples of the prohibited acts listed under RA 9003. During our grade school days, teachers, particularly the science teachers, taught us all about the three Rs, reduce, reuse, and recycle. Instead of just storing our knowledge about this topic, we should be able to apply it in our everyday lives. There are multiple ways to “turn your trash into gold”. DIYs or do it yourself can be practiced at home. Instead of throwing your trash away or throwing your unwanted belongings, you can recycle these things and turn it into another product that you can use.

Plastic Ban
PLASTIC BAN
Banning waste is a good way to start waste management. In the year 2013, LGU, Local Government Units, banned the use of plastic bags for it is the main reason for blocking the drainage system. Plastic ban forbids the usage of plastic for the packaging of goods - dry and cold. The only plastic available are the plastic bottles used for packaging liquid drinks and as well as those sachet plastic products. However, it is still a good thing if we avoid using plastic bottles. Or, if it is really needed, you could just have few plastic bottles used and make sure to not throw them away and just recycle them. Instead of using plastic bags, paper bags or eco bags are used as an alternative. Using paper bags are not costly because these papers bags are made out of recycled materials and fiber. Local governments created different city ordinances regarding this issue. In Las Piñas, they implemented the city ordinance No. 238-95, series of 1995. It is an ordinance prohibiting the littering of garbage.
